Rev Dr John Taylor
We have been very sad to hear of the death on 27 April of John Taylor. John began his ordained ministry as a probationer in the Sheffield, Carver Street, Circuit before coming to Partington in the Sale Circuit. During a long and influential ministry he served as President of the Methodist Conference in Britain in 1997/ 1998. Among his other appointments were Tutor at Queens College, Birmingham, Ministerial Secretary for the Division of Ministries, and Chair of the Liverpool District. He maintained many friendships with people in the Sale Circuit, returning on several occasions to lead worship or offer sessions of teaching on Christian issues. We pray for his wife Margaret and the family at this sad time.
It was a complete shock for us all to hear of Janet's death a week ago. She held a variety of different roles and duties in Trinity Church and the Sale Methodist Circuit which she fulfilled in her normal dedicated and conscientious manner. Whilst Janet will be remembered for all she did (the Circuit Treasurer being just one of her roles!), it is her as a person that we will miss the most, a lovely quiet and private lady of faith. She started the prayer meeting each week as she recognised the importance of communal prayer. She knew her saviour, Jesus Christ, would keep her in the next world and made that statement of faith only days before she slipped out of this world. Prayerful to her close she was realistic in the way she dealt with that last part of her life, a truly lovely person, sadly missed. We naturally pray for Trevor, Judith, Susan and all the family during this difficult time.
